While on the Facebook fan page of Jay Abraham - A Leading Marketing Authority - I saw a post that Jay made:

Whenever you make an offer, ask for a sale, run an ad, have a salesperson make a proposition to a customer or prospect, or offer a product or service for sale at a specific price, always tell the reason WHY.
next came this helpful post from one of my fellow fans that got me thinking as to how to answer some of the WHY’s that Jay was speaking of:

Why Invest in Art?
oh - here is a thought - Why even look at my Art - Well people are always looking to invest in worthwhile entities - and whatever would be considered a "good" investment and J.P.Getty - who was the richest man in the world at the time that he wrote his book "How to Be Rich" wrote that Art is the Best Investment and followed through with that thought so much so that he established the Getty Museum in California - : The Getty - well that is the reason you should at least take the first step and begin viewing my art -

Getty humbly saw himself as a patron of the arts on a scale at least equalling the Medicis of Renaissance Florence, and is amusing when discussing the lack of cultural knowledge of the average American. He called art 'the finest investment' not just because it more than held its own financially, but because of the pleasure of living with beautiful things. In return for enriching the world, the wealth creator had a duty to support those who lived for their art. Yet he also saw business itself in creative terms, noting that those at the top are 'creative artists' instead of simply 'artisans of business.'
On collecting itself, the author dissolves the myth that it is a rarefied pastime for the rich, mentioning several acquaintances in regular jobs who had built up excellent collections. Anyone with enough money can pay top dollar at Sotheby's, but the true collector is a scholar who appreciates the background of each piece she buys. As Getty rather poetically puts it: "To me, they are vital embodiments of their creators. They mirror the hopes and frustrations of those who created them - and the times and places in which they were created." What could be more fascinating or enriching?
the next step to reinforce that is that once you are there in my galleries you might as well spend a little more time finding some or at least one image that inspires you - an image which may be used to motivate you and/or an image or a few images that may - by looking at them - give you energy (something loads of people need in this world - you might also find an image that either speeds you up or slows you down - if you need pacing in either of those directions - please note that you are welcome to view these images and can do all of this for free without spending a penny 24 hours - 365 days per year for the rest of your life -
finally - if you find such an image or images that you are able to get inspiration from then it makes perfect sense to invest in prints or canvases of those images to be in your environment to be able to inspire motivate - give you energy in that environment so that you find yourself becoming reinforced by these continually -

Now I spend almost all of my time creating art exactly because of Getty's statement that art is the best investment since why would I want to place my thoughts - ideas and energy into anything else if this is the best investment - now I have over 110,000 images which can be ordered in 8 different paper types or canvas and in different sizes which can be made into an infinite number of collections and businesses for other people anywhere in the world -

for me there are great time difference between the time a person finds out about my art and the time that they will ever be ready - sometimes the time is very short - and sometimes perhaps it can be a very long time period till they are ready - this works the same with getting assignments in photography as well - there are many people who need something and get recommended - in a matter of minutes and the next thing they know they are in my studio getting what they want - but sometimes it may take a year - 3 years and sometimes it has been up to 12 years where a person has first found out to me and then finally needs what it is that they originally thought about when they first discovered my service existed and then they become a consistent repeat customer - so I think that people who are starting out in business would benefit greatly in realizing that these type of time differences or time lags from a person first finding out about your products and services and then when they are actually ready to call up and buy can vary greatly from person to person -

I have been thinking about what different people could want and then I decided to think about those things that I could possibly want - so far I have come up with the idea that what I would really like to have is at least most if not all of the knowledge and wisdom of the world or at least to know it - I say that because having it and knowing it might be two different things - what is perhaps is an astounding thing is that most if not all of the knowledge and wisdom of the world is here in some form or other on the Internet - whether written down on a web site or simply in the minds and thoughts and hearts of the friends that I have here or perhaps within their friends - but in some way most if not all of the knowledge and wisdom of the world is within reach of all of us - but the next question for me - is this knowledge and wisdom being utilized by us - to the extent that it is making a profound difference in our lives ?-

perhaps or perhaps not depending if and when we are actually searching for - making use of and even perhaps sharing this knowledge and wisdom and exchanging feedback as to how or when or why or any combination of these uses of such knowledge and wisdom to the best advantage -

I am wondering if there are many people who are viewing the whole picture as to how things are really changing in terms of what is accessible to us - and what it could mean even if it does not mean that yet -

are we as humans - ready for such grand increases in improvements in our lives and are we prepared ourselves with what we are to do with ourselves once we have made such improvements -

do we understand how to live at such elevated levels as well as how to enjoy ourselves - make good use of our time as well as perhaps earning money at these elevated states of being -

it is - I believe - one of the abilities of the age we are in - to have many of the wrote tasks that men have performed in the past - be done my machines and computers - therefore placing a new type of burden upon us to do something other than these types of work tasks that so many people were challenged with in the past - something more in the line of THINKING - are we ready to start up our brains - power them up and begin working in these directions on new and totally different types of tasks - the thinking kind?

I think that not only is the removal of distractions important but there is also the question of in what direction or let's just say the objective of the direction that a person will be heading in when the distractions are removed is of great importance as well - It might just be that many - most or even perhaps all people allow themselves to be distracted simply because they feel the need to "socialize" and so there is this tendency to listen to - look for and to get involved with what it is that other people - one - a few - a larger group - any one and every one is doing.

The freedom not to have to work in any particular "job" as has been the fate of so many people for so many generations of human kind is actually a most fantastic opportunity - but this opportunity is different than the "opportunity" to have a job and work with others on any particular task such as one would find they had on a job assignment -

Instead the human being is now free in many cases to be removed from the need to have to be distracted by any or all other humans and to instead pursue a line of pure thought in just about any direction or line of thinking that is chosen and by doing this a greater distance or amount of thought can be levied in the one direction that is chosen - apart from a few meditative Gurus - this type of opportunity has not been afforded many people on this planet in a long time - and it will be interesting to see the ideas - thoughts and products that will arise if and when such thinking does occur -

The Art of Time and Money
Which although seems to allude all forms of inspection is really most probably the cause of any distress in the worlds of yesterday - today or tomorrow.
First of all, let me thank you for spending your time to at least begin, if not continue reading this piece, since it is, whether you realize it or not, allowing me to convey to you an important part of my thinking. And besides the value of your time, which I acknowledge you are giving me at this very moment, I would also hope to acknowledge that this translates to money, whether in yesterday’s, today’s, or tomorrows, value of the idea referred to as money, and as such that your investment of your time in reading these words will bring you some profit, which for you specifically reading this will translate into a greater profit (idea or otherwise), and therefore make your investment a worthwhile one.
Next, let me add an important concept into the arena of ideas, and say that the idea or ideas that one is working with (be it money or any other idea) change(s) constantly with thought - whether it is thought about the idea specifically, thought about the relationship of the idea to things, thought about the idea to other ideas or, just pure thought on any number of factors which make up the idea in it’s totality. This being the case, an infinite amount of thought (constantly changing and infinitely generated by ones mind) can be looked at in reference to any one of the above mentioned items without exhausting the ability for a single person, let alone a combination of two or more person’s working on the same subject together, to increase the thought on the subject infinitely.
Why should we stop? Where should we stop? What should we stop for? What constitutes a need or reason to stop? And, in
reality, when we appear to stop, do we in fact actually stop, or is there a continuation in the subconscious in the same direction with the thought, despite our conscious effort to chose a point where the thought direction and progress has stopped?
When looked at from this perspective, thought on any subject, in any direcion does not have to nor does it likely ever stop in any one direction when we consciously think it does, and therefore the thought does not have to hinder or prevent or interfere with our productivity in the physical world (in the case of the Industrial World) or the knowledge based or idea world (in the Information World), but merely continues throughout as we develop more and more and evolve into our next World - the Thought World, where constant thought changes as well as physical changes are constantly noticed as part of the scenery in the everyday landscape, and lend themselves to a better undertanding as to what exactly is going on in our environments.
How does this translate into an Art of Time and Money? Simply add a greater amount of thought to any Time and/or Money transactions and the infinite dimension of the thought direction is added to enhance and transform each one of these transaction into infinite understandings.
Greater profit than this no man can ask for at the present moment!

I think that until or unless there are enough dollars printed in the United States to represent every single bit of value in every single object and service and exists today there will remain a very off balance system that leaves some without the ability to even function properly -

there are many ways of operation that may have made this country great up until this point in time - but now there are many many changes that are causing things to shift and simply require a totally new and different perspective in order for any progress to be made at all -

neither the dollar nor art should be of any lesser value because there is more printed on the one hand - the dollars and on the other hand the art in the world - there is now always going to be more value by more people being able to benefit from a stronger and more available dollar as well as many many more people able to benefit from being able to view any one particular image that is created -

when things are offered for free in today's world it is because the person giving this or that away for free wants in great ernest to capture your attention - that is a very valuable thing for that person to gain which then makes it possible for that person to then present different offerings to you that are to be charged for which could never be presented to you otherwise simply because there are so many other offers in the world today all being able to be delivered to you via the vast and immense systems we call social networks today such as Facebook where I am writing these ideas down and which is allowing many of my friends to view and perhaps grasp these ideas - do you remember at all what your life was like - how many people that you were able to communicate with in one day - before Facebook was created - do you remember the limits of your ability to communicate with others in different parts of the world before the Internet?

There are these profound changes that have been made because of these new tools and although the basic - what we can do with these tools are things that humans have been doing for many years - like communicating and presenting of ideas as well as conducting commerce - the extent to which we can now conduct such activity with almost anyone else anywhere else in the world is become greater and greater by the moment - and with this increase of people that we are able connect and communicate with - exchange ideas with and perhaps do business with -each and every individual's life is changing that much more profoundly -

I believe there is so much more behind increasing a national debt than meets the eye and that there can be so much more profound positive results created by continuing on in the direction of printing money than can be understood by the old rules of economy -and in order to understand these dynamics it might just be helpful to have a meaningful discussion on order to see things from a different or differing perspectives - who has the time - the inclination - the interest and the intelligence to have such a discussion? I search everywhere and there does not seem to be anyone with which to have such a discussion -

Since the U.S. went off the gold standard and there is no longer any tie between gold or silver backing each and every dollar that is printed - there is no reason or excuse for limiting the dollars that are printed and in circulation - and simply because there is this limited edition of the U.S. dollar there will always be many many many people who are being underpaid and unable to earn a substantial amount for the living needs -

just as hoarding gold under a rock or dollars under a mattress - hoarding art in a vault or in an underground cave serves no purpose to anyone - instead there must be more people who are able to access and see - benefit and be inspired by more art than ever before and the Internet with it's corresponding tools allow this to happen - beginning to change the entire makeup of our whole society - think carefully just how your life has been effected by being able to view so many more images without leaving the comfort and convenience of your home - the value of such changes has not even begun to be realized!

although the Internet has brought about the providing of many things for free - it is a fact that the old free and the new free are very very different and that the internal perceptions for each individual of things that are free in today's world must change and adjust to better understand the real value if those things that are free today!

and together with these profound changes - the tools at hand whether they be cameras - computers or Facebook are improving and increasing in their capacities as well - and with it changing the entire nature of human thinking!

and along with these changes in human thinking occurring - the understand that we do not live in one Universe but that there are many many Universes each within which an individual human being lives in and that these humans are being in these many Universes each and every one of them different than the next despite the close proximity within which each one of them may or may not be to each other:

along the same line of thinking that I was writing about this morning - Social Security need never be stopped or increases stopped because there will always remain the ability of the U.S. government to print more money so that those who are supposed to receive such money will -

Why - when most ideas that are perceived in a fertile mind - are they most often referred to as seeds that are planted in someone else's mind when in all honesty it is often known that there lies within each and every human mind everything that they will ever need to know -instead of teaching someone we acknowledge that educating (or drawing from within) them is the preferred method since everything that a person will ever know is already within their own mind - what happens when another person claims to plant a seed in another's mind as opposed to fertilizing the idea that already exists there in that person's thought is that they are claiming more of the credit than they deserve -

I read this morning that some people get bored with the festivities on Thanksgiving and need to find something to do - perhaps you might recommend that they take some time and enjoy the images in my galleries - pick out the ones that they like the best and begin making a blog with these images utilizing the embed code that is provided with each and every image in the galleries - voila - instantly - each and every person who has done this in essence has created their own unique gallery collection made up of images from my collection - if there is still time after that - they can begin thinking of ways to share their own unique galleries with others and perhaps even earning some money with these galleries as well -

I am struck with the thought just now - of how so many people are encouraged to make such great efforts to write different ideas and responses to blogs and comment on articles as well as use different tools in different formats in order to get their ideas and thoughts picked up by different search engines and I am wondering now if what people say and put out there in the Internet world on Facebook is picked up by the different search engines just as a comment or post on a blog like this is - I am wondering if anyone knows this and if this is at all possible? This entire process and the efforts that different people seem to be both putting into all of this as well as well as keeping track and utilizing the information that they can measure to see how one effort is producing results over any other effort seems to a certain extent to be hard to follow in the short term - perhaps after a ten or twenty year period the cumulative results will be of more value to understanding the results of efforts over the long run - take for example the image shown below here - the stats for this image at this point in time show 37 views and only 1 view from Facebook where there must be some link that I placed so that Facebook becomes indicated for the stats of this image as a (or at this point the only) referrer - but where did the other 36 views come from? - I cannot tell you at this point in time - nor would I be able to suggest if I did know - whether it would be wise to make more effort to get more exposure or links or whatever would be necessary to attempt to get more views from the other source or sources - but in reality there might be a differing result if I did make such an effort and then I might just find that I have created a situation where paradoxical intention has taken over - this seems to have happened in some instances - but in order to know for sure or at least with a but more certainty than I know now I would have to put effort into a great deal of study and measurement and what have you - but during all of this thought - effort - and marketing study my main object is for people to view the images (which they are) and of course somewhere along the line to have this image be shown to a person who is very interested in purchasing a print of it -----

I sometimes wonder if I will ever run out of new ideas or new combinations of images - patterns - color combinations and so on to work on - and then I remember that I have taken care of that so long ago - for I foresaw that there would be no end to the combinations that I could conjure up and enjoy and then share with others and no end as well to going back and taking a much earlier image and working on that to create an endless number of newer images that branched off in so many newer directions - what am I thinking? Running out of anything in Infinite Generation is simply unheard of - my only challenge to to have enough energy to go forward and backwards and from side to side - endlessly -

from my perspective - the best way for me to create an image or to do anything with the skill of art is to relax into it - to remind myself of this I think of tennis - when the ball is coming towards you it is moving in the opposite direction than where you are going to hit it when you return it to the other player on the other side of the net - if you can place yourself in a position and wait till the ball begins to drop - almost the way it drops when you are serving - then there is not so much force in the wrong direction and you can send the ball to where you want it to go with more force -

in the same manner - when I am patient with myself with a brush - a pencil - a mouse - a word until I have it in a position where it is in the most advantageous position for me to make my next move - then I will consider that the secret to making an art of anything -

In this sense there is the studied planning of when and how to carry out any effort - such that the action itself comes with great ease -

why would anyone only want to make a little money with their art?

I could see wanting people to see and enjoying your work in the old days when phones were rented from Ma Bell and stuff - but when people pay $200.00 to $500.00 for a cel phone - and $30.00 to $60.00 and more for the monthly service on those phones - a new car can cost say $25,000 to $35,000 and everyone who can get to a computer can see your images for free - so who says that everyone should have all of these goodies and not the artist who works at perfecting his or her art for most of his or her life?

So what gives - you don't think that you deserve some amount better than a few dollars for your work - because you don't think that your art is worth it - your are not worth is - do you feel like a fraud - you would rather be poor for the rest of your life - or you only want to sell to those people who are hungry and poor - because they more than anyone else will "appreciate" your art while no one else in the entire world will -

how much do you pay for the internet service you use - your computer - your camera or paints and canvas - brushes - travel time - food clothing shelter - you know the basics to do anything at all - ?

people have called me whacky - crazy out of my mind - all of that stuff - but I think that I am the only one perhaps maybe a few others - who are dealing with the realities of the world at least that I am living in -

and forget about the materials and all of the basics - how about the fact that I have been photographing for 52 years now -

and I am not asking for any critiques of my work - if you don't like my work - don't buy any - or even better yet - don't look at it -

but for the person who likes my work - think about the fact that for most of my life - I had to drag myself to Manhattan - pay a fee and spend time to look at the Museums that many people of the world come to - spend about a half hour and then wait in line to buy a sweat shirt from A&B - sounds ridiculous - but that is what the majority of people go for - a sweat shirt - a pair of sneakers for Nike Town and a lot of walking around getting tired -

even the museums are receiving less viewers to their spaces - galleries say they are not selling work - and well why should anyone pay for something they can get for free - like TV for all of the years that it had been free - but now you pay the cable bill - get all the shows and a few extra dollars and you have all the art that you want on your screen - get a few people to purchase your prints - and your an artist - yes - but make something significant that will be of any value down the line - well - get enough people to pay for such piece or pieces and you will see a self reinforcing spiral or cycle or whatever it might be labeled by then - you will definitely see people jumping on the band wagon buying up all sorts of stuff with your images - because just as on Fifth Avenue when I am handing out my cards:

when one person does something - others begin to do it - and then a whole bunch of people follow them -

it takes a great deal of persistence - perseverance and energy - conviction and vision to succeed - and I am not saying that everyone should do the same as I - each and every person is different and has their own vision and ideas of how things should and should not work - but that is what makes this world so fantastically interesting -

so back to my question -

why would anyone only want to make a little money with their art?

does anyone go into their job every day whether they studied for the job or not and say - well I only want to make a little money or pay me what you will - I will do your books - your accounting - your sales - your typing - your sewing - your sweeping - cleaning the toilets - teaching - doctoring - nursing - any of these things - for a little bit of money - ?

I say - change your thinking - change your mind set - put all that you have into your art - *(if you really love doing it) and treat that work that you have created as valuable or even more valuable than anything anyone else does for their living - since if you are creating art seriously then like Renoir - Van Gogh - Gorky - Picasso -DeKooning - Pollock - or any one of thousands of artists - your work will be influencing people for many years to come -

the only justification that anyone needs in order to place a particular price on a piece of art work is whether or not they feel comfortable with what that price is - whether it will sell or not is irrelevant just as whether a line or color or particular subject is discernible or not (referring to wether a piece of art is abstract or not) -it is my contention that it is not the artist's responsibility to place anything in or out of his painting to please anyone but himself and in the same manner there is absolutely no responsibility to make a price that will be satisfactory to anyone but him or herself - also slight color variations - slight changes in shapes and forms or whatever a person who is creating an images and who chooses to express what it is that he is feeling and experiencing is also up to that person and need not be subject to attempted belittlement over and over and over again in such a thread as this -

also - just prior to the existence of what is referred to as a POD - photographers - whether beginning or master such as Richard Avedon - had the option of having their negatives and slides on file at professional labs from which they would be able to order prints whenever they had need for one - none of those prints being considered anything but an original photograhic print - In the same vain - uploading an original digital file here on Imagekind is exactly the same as having a negative or slide on file at a custom lab - and the prints therein - whether they be of photographs or digital images - are then original prints as well - POD is merely a marketing tactic to make the concept of holding files on site of a printing facility (in this case Imagekind) which takes the place with today's technology - of the custom lab while the addition of a web site where the images may be made visible to the entire world population is another plus to the marketing possibilities of such displayed images which at the same time making these images of more value because of the wider audience they are afforded with such a site -

as far as limited editions are concerned - the imperative to limit an edition originated from the process of working with block and screens which was a totally different process where the printing element would become worn after so many prints were made and thus the need to limit an edition - and it this becoming more rare because of this limitation - there is no need or justification unless it is the artist's wish desire and vision for his or her own plan and his or her own understand of what he or her wants to accomplish - while if a person wishes not to limit editions of originals that are created - they have every right and obligation to do that with their own art with their own perception as suits them best. - at the same time - while a print may come from a limited edition - this may imply does not necessarily guarantee that there is only one edition of such a number of prints and it may or may not effect the value of such a print as well -

unlike the rest of the activities in this world - art and its creation in any endeavor need not be a group think phenomenon and while it may be because of such forums such as currently have formed on the internet where thoughts and ideas are shared with others from around the world and from so many different environments and cultures where people seem to be having the same goals and ideas - that in itself may constitute a sometimes unhealthy tendency to follow the crowd -

no matter how hard I try - I tell myself once in a while that I should do things differently - perhaps I run through everything and how I might wish to do things and I try - perhaps ten times I try and ten times it fails or I begin and then poof - the whole thing blows up in my face - so I have begun just to let things happen - nothing has to be on time or at a certain time or in a certain way - I even accidently deleted two galleries - one with 1,000 images and another with about 3 or 400 images and as I was re uploading the images in the first gallery I discovered a faster method for me to take to up load my images and I discovered while half way through that Imagekind had just in the middle of everything created a faster up loader to things are really going great with the more relaxed and as things happen attitude - :-)

THE OUTLIER

I believe that the concept of an outlier – someone whose abilities or success falls so outside the normal bell curve that he or she is considered to be an outlier has been connected to the 10,000 hour mark in a book with that title – whether or not this is true is difficult to say since using a few examples of both observed people as well as his own life experience is somewhat of a shaky use of any scientific evidence to call something proof – but Malcolm has done such and therefore the 10,000 hours example will be touted by many for decades perhaps eons to come – while my experience as an artist is so much different than that – the successes that I have had both in the commercial world as well as the artistic world and in every other world that I have functioned in has both been extremely of a different nature as well as perhaps totally contrary to what is being described –

The successes I experience come from a complete – what I call – relaxing into whatever it is that I am do – such that I am there for an infinitely long moment – and am not going anywhere else ever when I am in that particular infinitely long moment – and when – as far as I believe – anyone else begins even to ever so slightly understand what it is that I am now rambling on about – they will have cracked an even more unusual code for success than has ever been worked on and searched for and conjured up so far till this point in time –

This is something that I have known not just in the last few years or for a major part of a business or professional career – but something that I became profoundly aware of back in grammar school –

a problem for many businesses is giving up to soon or in the face of any type of adversity - when they have almost all of the elements or ingredients for their great success - think of a batch of dough your mom might have for making bread - that dough needed flour - water - salt - yeast - some sugar perhaps and even some flavoring of say orange peel -

now remove the water from that ingredient list and no mater how much of any of the ingredients that you mom has - her dough will simply now be able to be created - if we then add some water but not enough that the recipe calls for - then the resulting mix will make an unsatisfactory batch of dough - and likewise adding too much to the mixture of any one of the ingredients - will cause the results to be a poor dough at the least - so what is needed to make many of the businesses that are created - work successfully is a right mix of all the ingredients where in contrast to this many leaders in businesses all across the nation and throughout the world often focus on one or more of a group of ingredients thus causing the resulting company operate poorly if not fail -

No business can expect to give less service and demand customer loyalty while threatening the very existence of the customer's survival - all of which the glimpses into the proposed health plan which has not honestly been explained by any neutral party yet - promise to provide -

the real fact is that many many many or let's say the major portion of the population of the United States of America now are satisfied if not extremely happy with their health care - it is the costs that they may wish to see reduced - but they certainly do not wish to have their coverage reduced in any way - and it is most probably expected in some underlying way that the geniuses of the business world come up with a plan where insurance providers can cover all needed care that is needed while reducing the costs - this is what should be focused on being accomplished and not the destruction of a perfectly good system that works so well for so many individuals and groups while the financial coverage of the health services for individuals who are not covered at this point in time is an excellent goal for the government to take on - that is not reason or excuse or justification for the forcing of the lowering of the standards that are available to the majority of the population as things stand now -

this type of manipulation did not work with the financial system itself and in fact led the current crises that the entire world is just beginning to perhaps recover from - and it is definitely a plan which every clearly thinking individual that is covered by health insurance at present has a right and obligation to protest against with all of his or her - while this is still a freedom loving county and this type of debate and protest as well as the checks and balances system in this country is still alive and well and functioning properly!!!

No one - should confuse health care with health insurance -

health care refers to the care and services that the doctors - nurses and other health professionals provide to actually improve - maintain and extend individual's lives - while health insurance is the financial system that has evolved to make the health care that people need - when and where they may need it - affordable - it is and must be the challenge of the health insurance industry to address the cost issue for the individuals that are currently covered by the insurance types that already exist and for the government to enlist either one of these insurance providers or one of their own to provide the financial coverage to provide for those who the government deems in need of health care but do not currently have it - this makes a clear and definite separation between what needs to be left alone (the health care system in this country itself) and what needs to be addressed by both the insurance industry (lovering costs altogether) and the government - financing insurance to cover those who are not insured for health care coverage and who desire and are in need of such health care - and nothing more - reducing the care that anyone gets at present - in order to give any coverage at all to a person with no coverage - can not exist under the disguise of compassion by any means whatsoever - no way - no how!!!!

do not let anyone pull any such wool over you or anyone else's eyes - this is simply an untruth - be clear that health care which is needed in differing proportions by each and every individual cannot be doled out like a portion of food on a person's plate at the fanciest of restaurants or at a homeless shelter - but should and must be available when - where and as much or as little as any individual no matter who they are - is in need of such - and towards this end it is the challenge of our country and society to invent and invest in IMPROVEMENTS and INCREASES in the HEALTH CARE that everyone receives while LOWERING the COSTS to everyone - which may mean a closer examination of the HEALTH INSURANCE INDUSTRY - and the companies functioning in that sector of business -

I am never sure which is the most productive route to take - I see so many paths to travel down - so many different tasks to perform and all with seemingly as much importance as the other - and so I attempt to travel down all of these paths at the same time a little bit at a time and it becomes more and more difficult to accomplish anything and then I remember what my main philosophy is: the slower I go - the faster I get to where I want to be - because if I am enjoying where I am - I don't have to go anywhere -

this morning as the sun rose and struck the lamp and wall and I watched this happen as I took a deep breathe of the fresh spring air and thought also of the trip I had taken just last week to the Southampton Beach - I realized how much all of the wonderful thoughts and feelings that I had when I was much much younger are still available to me now - and that all that I had to do was to place myself in the same environments and do the same things as I did back then and the entire Universe would lie ahead of me at my feet again -

It is not only my thinking that has to change but my environment as well as my focus on different infinite perspectives in that environment that would really propel me to a place where I love to be:

How do you know what is a good price for your work?

there are always a few things to consider when creating a price for any product - in this case your art - which is an item - until you give it away - that you have a monopoly on -

then there is the question as to whether you are selling an original or a copy -

if you are selling a copy of a painting but have altered that copy sufficiently in any number of ways then that falls into the area of being an original as is any photograph or digital image that you create and only sell prints of - there is no other original category for either of these two category no matter what anyone says unless of course you are selling digital "C" prints or one of the other types of photographic prints that can be made - all of which will be original as well -

then consider that in this digital online world that in what is referred to as the print on demand arena (in this case the Imagekind system) is not only allowing the customer to purchase an original of a print but also gives the customer who is buying this original the right to partake in the creation of the print that is being made and so therefore you as an artist and owner of a monopoly item are giving away a lot - and that is worth a great deal of money as well as allowing a very precious item to be produced -

of course all of these points may take a while for people to realize and to actually come to grips with as far as how they treat their creations - but eventually the value of both selling as well as presenting your work in this manner will be better understood as time goes on and the professional artist really examines what is going on here in the digital online world -

In addition, unless arrangements are made to have such images as are in the galleries here at Imagekind to remain up and maintained by such an entity as an estate - then the unique images that the collectors and investors are being given the right to make prints of here are very definitely limited by nature of them not being able to be created after you are no longer maintaining your gallery or galleries here and so that is another factor to take into consideration -

finally the elements of time effort and energy that you have both placed into learning and perfecting your art as well as the time and efforts you have made placing your files of your images up here in your galleries together with any marketing - pr and social networking that you have or will have done in order to let individuals know that both your art even exists as well as the fact that these unique images are available for individuals to interact with and create prints in such a manner as I have described above with - all might be elements for any sane artist - business person - or simply a person who values the items that they have spent so much time creating - should and must take into consideration in order to make his or her efforts worthwhile in such an endeavor as this is and will be over the long run of time -

How much should you charge - only you can answer that based on your understanding and just how much you grasp the whole picture that I have described above - and that means that for each and every single individual the above elements will vary and thus the answer to the question and other questions previously put forth on this topic will vary as well -

oh -- and one more thing - the responsibility of determining your price or prices based on the above information and perspectives and any other elements that you may come up with to add to the mix as well - leaves the sole responsibility of coming up with your price - ----------------up to you - no matter what anyone else says - or tells you or claims is right or wrong in this area of your art !!!

some day - neither you nor I might be able to enjoy the delicious taste of a steak or a fresh cristp lettuce or a deliciously prepared egg plant dish - so let us savor each and every bite of any of the things that we are able to eat and taste now with momentous pleasure for that which these are - overwhelmingly delicious portions of life -

turmoil and calm

after watching for such a long time - how people have been rushing more and more in the city and in the country and everywhere else - all busy talking on their cel phones and texting all of their important messages to each other - I am beginning to get the feeling from them that they just might prefer to be more relaxed and calm and that they may be beginning to see that all of this hectic energy is not producing anything worthwhile or long lasting -

I am starting this particular blog to place any thoughts down about different phases or periods or moments during which I see different feelings or shifts effecting my art -

the entries here might be extremely sporadic and in no way will they be expressive of my only thoughts - but simply those from time to time about art that I may wish to place here -
