Not All Things Are What They Appear To Be Or What You Think They Are!

Over the years while handing out my business cards to people on the streets of Manhattan or wherever else I happen to be and prepared to carry out my "Doubling Project" I have learned many interesting a father amazing things - One thing, which I would like to address today in this particular post is that many people assume things that are not true and when they stop and take the time to discover exactly what they truth is they are very often pleasantly surprised and thankful that they did - As the example that I am thinking of evolves into an expressible group of words to place here in this post I can say that my experience is that there are many people who have rejected my attempts over the years to give them my business card and especially the one that I am currently handing out which is mainly to introduce them to my art at The Bebirian Art Collection ---well more recently since there are a much greater amount of rejections there in the streets perhaps because there are so many people not only focused on talking on their cel phones which did not exist years ago when I started my "Doubling Project" to the extent that they are used today but in addition the added distraction of people texting, looking at maps on their phones to see where it is that they are going or generally searching for various information on this smart phones. Well in order to be able to interest at least some of the people who actually say no or no thank you to me - of which there are a great number - I began asking questions instead of letting them just slip by. Since I do remember somewhere in my mind that a no or rejection is simply an opportunity for a salesperson to answer questions and address any objections that a person might have - By asking the specific questions - why not or do you know what it is - I have since had quite a few successful conversations with people who have then taken my card - but the point that I would like to make here is that many people assume that since I am standing on a corner handing out my card that what I am handling out is something that they do not want - such as an ad for a clothing store or a food shop or a nail salon - or better yet - just about anything that they don't want - but when they are asked by me a few questions and then we do have a conversation during the few moments that they are there waiting for a red light to change so that they are abel to cross the street from where they are - and they discover that I am presenting them with a card that gives they access to at this point in time over 160,000 of my art images they are most often delighted and extremely thankful that both I did give them the card and now that they actually took it - So it is my point here that I would like to make that many people in our advanced society today may not only be missing out on getting my card with instructions as to how to access the world or art that I am presenting to them but who knows how many other great things that they may be similarly missing out as well - simply because they are assuming that what they are being presented is of a different nature than it actually is - .1-26-2010CABC by Walter Paul Bebirian

Thoughts in response to "Spare Change"

"Spare Change" originally posted by Peter Buffet: "Spare Change" elicited this response from me: Well Peter Buffett if I were going to discuss this post that you have made here I would have quite a few questions to ask you - but the main one first that has come to mind - what if you remove the tendency to go for stability and resist or even fight change - would we not then have constant change and with that constant change would not stability and the fighting of change would then be a change so we would send ourselves into a constant struggle between the two states mentioned above - constant change on one hand and stability and fighting of change on the other - so then once we had this constant struggle where could be then go for change? calm and peace on one side or the other of this struggle - but if we have gotten to constant change we would have to get up again and then go for one side or the other of what we have just settled peacefully into - so it appears from one perspective or the other that the change which is being encouraged or hinted at may or may not be comfortable for a great many people despite whether it may or may not be looking advantageous from an outsider's perspective to embracing it or not - and so I would say that that is why there is much resistance to change - but also from the moment any wall is built it may look like from one side or another that it's creation was unnecessary and that things were better off without the wall being placed there in the first place - what is interesting is that after writing all of the above here I recall seeing somewhere that the main quality of capitalism is change and if this is the case perhaps one take on the whole need for change is that we have to allow the capitalist system that is in place to continue on with it's changing which then brings about the changes that the individuals in society experience - Of course how and why and wherefore this particular thinking goes from here - well - that might indicate that you and I and a whole number of individuals might have a great deal to talk about and to look at and even learn - but most importantly - there is no definite set answer - since in reality the world that we will be looking at has changed since a few moments ago when I began writing this post and will most certainly have changed by the time you and anyone else here on Facebook or on a blog post where I might choose to place this entire answer will have changed by the time any significant number of people may have read these very same words - . 12-9-2012ABCD by Walter Paul Bebirian

No One Likes Being Told What To Do!

Think about your own self - How many times have you seen people say in one place or other - go to this site - come to this site - click here - buy this - any number of these directives that instantly and absolutely hits a nerve and which you immediately refuse no matter what it is that they are telling you to do - to follow - Well, if you feel that way and it is pretty clear that you most probably do - then there is a great chance that whoever is reading whatever it is that you have written that is telling them what to do - dislikes this being told what to do as well and the odds are that whether it is to their benefit or not to do exactly what you have told them to do - that they will inevitably ignore this and not do it - So I suppose the best action to take if you would like to have someone do one thing or another is to simply tell them about whatever it is that you have to offer and let them decide on their own time at their own speed when they would like to do the searching or clicking or whatever it is that has to be done to get themselves to see what it is that you are talking about - .1-26-2013GABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRTU by Walter Paul Bebirian

What Does Rejection Mean to Me?

This is exactly what I was thinking about today at around 11:20AM while I was handing out my business cards for my art site on Fifth Avenue and 53rd Street in Manhattan - I have, while I stand there attempting to give out these cards to people as they pass me by in the 14 degree weather that we had today - the greatest opportunity in the entire world to both stand up to a great deal of the most difficult rejection that I could possibly imagine right alongside the greatest opportunities every moment to get beyond the rejection of one person and place my business card introducing my art on the Internet to another potential viewer - It is with great joy and anticipation that I place myself in the way of the rejection of so many people in order to make the connection with the next person who is open and willing to take my card and I do so with so much confidence and determination along with persistence that very often allows me to not only be rejected by some but to walk up to those very same people who have rejected what I have offered them - and while they are waiting for the light to change at the corner - offer the very same card and see them change their minds so many times and not only take the card but smile as well when they take it and discover what it is that I had been offering them that they rejected just a few moments ago - my next big project that I am focusing on can be read about here: The Bottom Line enjoy the adventure!!!! :-) P.S. I would love to hear from any of the people who instead of rejecting my offer either the first of even the second attempt - actually took my business card and who have enjoyed viewing my art - it certainly would make the rejection even more meaningless altogether - . 12-17-2012BABCDEFGHIJ by Walter Paul Bebirian

Creativity in Social Media Marketing Efforts

well - like any tools - the different social media outlets can be utilized in many different ways - creative and otherwise - for me it seems that over time I might place a post somewhere - say in a thread such as this one (remember that this LinkedIn system is a social media network as well) and then if I were to step back from my comment on this post enough and it has sufficient information and detail to be interesting I might then go ahead and place it in one of my blogs and then add that blog post to various threads or comments in threads on other blogs of those of other people or in groups or fan pages throughout Facebook or LinkedIn - the whole thing becomes - for me at least - sort of like creating images in my galleries - with the entire social media world becoming places to both create as well as exhibit the thought processes that I have been developing - I might also add some of these blog posts to some of the generalized Facebook pages that I have created for different topics which are considered Community Pages by Facebook which can be found here: http://575488trillion.com/marketing-tools.html so I would suppose being creative can be spread not only into different areas of my life but into the various areas of social media tools that are being provided for use all of the time - and since that is happening - it might not make any sense to limit my description here because as soon as I might do that - I will most probably go ahead and do something in another corner of the entire Universe - :-) here is an example of such a blog post that was originally a comment on a thread somewhere (I do not recall exactly where at this point in time) but it is now a big focus on my thinking as to how to let people in my direct area (New York City) know that my work exists and just how to both find it as well as make purchase of prints and canvases of this work: http://bebirianartthoughts.blogspot.com/2013/01/the-bottom-line.html but I also conscious of this concept which I want to take into consideration when marketing my art as opposed to creating it: http://bebirianartthoughts.blogspot.com/2013/01/thoughts-to-myself-about-marketing-and.html it is extremely easy to go on and on and on creating and forget about the fact that the marketing - and sales along with the entire business side of things is fundamentally different than the creating side - at least as far as I see it - and yes - when I mentioned this somewhere the other day in an email to a strictly business person a return comment was made afterwards that many business look to create new and innovative things and are constantly changing what their messages are - but only in a relative sense to simply sending out one message over and over and over and over again until the customer's make their purchases - such a business as this person has and is running successfully may come up with additional or complimentary tools and systems every couple of months or over a few years where if I were to wait that long to create something new it would drive me crazy not to be expressing myself - and yet there are developments that I have been working on over years so there are fluctuations that I see in both worlds that can actually complement each other over time - and so after thinking and writing about all of this - the whole process - over time - is becoming more and more fun to become more and more involved in!!!! 1-13-2013FABCDEF by Walter Paul Bebirian

General Posts and Public Discussions vs Private Conversations!

While General Posts and Public Discussions can be very informative and eye opening for sure - the private discussions that I get to have with various people from time to time are really fascinating because in these conversations I get to explore and uncover many more ideas and concepts that are either in the back of my mind or that I have actually been working on and in this way verbalize them so things very often become more clear in my mind - this ability to formalize a concept or idea is extremely valuable and is somewhat related to being able to discuss developments in a body of work in art - 11-18-2012EABCDEFGH by Walter Paul Bebirian

What Do Bebirian - Gorky - Picasso -Van Gogh - Da Vinci - Rembrandt - Money - Manet - De Kooning - Warhol - Hearst All Have in Common?

Art - Ideas and a Great Passion to share these with people from all over the world - only today - unlike any of these other artists that have come before me - I am coming and closer to understanding just how I may be able to let the most individuals living in our world at the present time actually know about and see my art - and of course with your help if you so choose to share with them - I will be able to within a relatively very short period of time do exactly what I have set out to do and have been working on doing for most of my life - 12-21-2012E by Walter Paul Bebirian

Thoughts To Myself About Marketing and Selling of Art As An Artist vs Business Person!

perhaps the gallery or galleries in your area that you have hung the images that you have painted for yourself are not of interest to the handful or people or the small percentage of the population that exist in your area and that means that there may be many many people who have not yet seen those images that you did for yourself but who would if they did see them - love to buy them - it is even additionally possible that the folks who would love to make such a purchase have not been born yet - I believe that was part of Van Gogh's problem - where many of the people who would come to appreciate his work and manner of expression as well as his subjects in his paintings had not yet come to be born (that is if they were born already and had simply not seen his work hanging in some of the galleries where his work was displayed) and so to take this even further - there are perhaps outside of your immediate area where the galleries that you hang your art in draw viewers from what some 7 billion people less the population of your immediate area - and how exactly will you get those individuals perhaps 6.999 billion people to even see your work let alone have an opportunity to even think of making a purchase of one of these - here are some of my thoughts the other day about just this very same topic: The Bottom Line The one thing that I am most sure of is that there is a fundamental difference between the business person's mind and the mind of an artist - and that is that the artist is continuously looking for new and more interesting subjects to focus on while the business person will take one product and advertise and promote it until that product is sold and he or she makes a profit from it and then that customer begins to purchase even more of the business person's other products or even more of the same product - 5-29-2012LABCDEF by Walter Paul Bebirian

What Tools I Utilize In The Computer To Create My Art!

I have been utilizing Photoshop Professional for many years and have a few versions on different computers because some of the old tools are no longer offered - but there are still an infinite number of tools and adjustments that I have yet begun to explore so I think I will stay focused on working with them first before I move on - to another life - 12-28-2012ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRTUVW by Walter Paul Bebirian

How Do I Personally Decide What To Post In Many Instances

I have found that despite the challenge to think of what to say and exactly how to say and also when to say what I have decided what to say - for me at least - it is always best to say what I come up with to say and where and how I come up with saying it - Which means quite simply - that I have very often come up with different ideas of what to post on my own blogs by looking at what I am responding to others's posts on their own blogs and when I do that I am simply talking my response as something of value that I have shared at a particular time with some people on a particular thread - perhaps adjusting that something of value in order to make it more appropriate for perhaps a wider audience and then taken it and placed it as a post on my very own blog - This way I know for sure that the topic I am talking or posting about is of interest to some other people and not just something that I pulled out of the air to talk about at any moment that I decide to talk or post about it and therefore it has some relevance to other people! After that I will take that post alone and place it in some relevant locations on Facebook - on my personal page as well and perhaps on some of the community oriented Facebook fan pages that I have created for different topics that I call marketing tools - some of which can be found on this page of my main web site: http://575488trillion.com/mark... and finally I may at least consider it for my on line newspaper: http://paper.li/f-1344730457 and that is the best method of thinking of and coming up with something worthwhile to a greater number of people - that I can think of at the moment!!!!! 12-23-2012ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRTU by Walter Paul Bebirian

One Step At A Time!

Whatever I am doing I find that there are either a thousand thoughts of other things that I may want to do or have to do in addition to that task at hand - but that all of these thoughts are really distractions and that thinking about them when I am doing one thing at the moment is not a good idea at all - the only thing that can happen by being conscious of anything besides the one thing that I am doing at any one moment is that I will cause anxiety inside myself as well as stress - Anxiety because I am thinking about something that I have to or want to do but I am not doing it because I have not completed the task that I am working on and stress because if I am focused on anything and then I realize that my thoughts are wondering on to the next thing or something else that I have to do or want to do - then I am forcing myself to not allow myself complete focus on and relaxation while doing the task at hand - So my recommendation to both myself and anyone else reading this is to do life - One Step At A Time!4-28-2012CABCDEF by Walter Paul Bebirian

The Bottom Line

I live in New York City - where we have about 20 million people living - aside from the 47 million people who visit here every year - so that totals around 67 million people who I might be able to sell some art to - first if I can let them know that I exist - that I have art for sale and that the art is at a low enough price that they each and every one of them can afford (unless they are still hurting from the last storm Sandy) to buy something - now how can I let them know that I exist - let them know how to see my art and then let them know that this art is affordable to well at least most of them - and then interest them in actually making a purchase of one if not more of these images on prints papers or canvases - Now to throw in there something beyond whether they are liking what they see when they go to my online galleries is totally useless and a waste of time and I am willing to bet that most of the people living here - are not of the upper echelons of society recently referred to as the 1% and even if they are in that class or category - the main issue - unless they are willing and looking to spend thousands or millions or even billions of dollars on a well known artist such as Picasso to hang him on their own personal wall: 4-30-2010F by Walter Paul Bebirian
4-30-2010F by Walter Paul Bebirian
is whether they like what they see or are moved by the image and want to live with it on their wall because it moves them - inspires them motivates them or just plain is a beautiful thing to have in their environment or is something that they would like to brag about to their friends that they own - So basically what I am saying real simply is that no matter by what means you accomplish evoking such emotion or attachment or inspiration - motivation - movement - or if they are so interested in rage that is fine as well - that is the means by which you must satisfy your clients and keep them satisfied one image at a time since once they have begun collecting your work - hopefully it is a lifetime endeavor from that point on - add some oil - take it a away - turn to blue - remove the blue - throw a video screen into the middle of an oil - watercolor or glicee even - it all falls under the category of art - and that is what we are creating and selling - one way or the other -
