What is Marketing?

In response to an article that I read in Forbes: "What is Marketing?" I wrote this: What I would like to do in order to answer your question in your article properly – “What is Marketing” and this answer applies to each and every individual on the planet – is to look at the root of the word Marketing – Market – or to Market – Now back in 1976 – when I took my very first trip on a bus to a faraway country called Pennsylvania – specifically to Amish Country better referred to an area in Pennsylvania called Lancaster which actually encompasses a lot – I somehow arrived without knowing where I was going to stay or anything about this unusual area – I was introduced to a farmer’s market – I had never seen or heard of such a thing in New York City (the farmer’s markets held at different locations in the streets of Manhattan did not exist back then) but when I think back to that experience and then compare it with a grocery store – there are similarities but differences as well – yes there was food in both and perhaps even some of the same foods – but at the farmer’s market there were many different booths manned by the different farmers’ staff members who brought their fruits – vegetables and meat products to this market and sold them to customers who came to this market to buy what was provided by the different staff members of the farms at each different booth – but at the grocery store (and this is pretty much the same) what was being sold all came from different companies selling their different processed foods and the vegetables and fruits came from the warehouses of the grocery store chain – each carrying food from many different farmers – What I am getting at – today markets exists wherever individuals live breathe – work – socialize – who did I hit a nerve? yes socialize – that means at your parties on your social networks – wherever you bring your smart phone and on your way to anywhere – and so look to at least let people know about whatever I have to sell or provide a client with wherever they are – and thus I developed my “Doubling Project”: "Doubling Project" So did I answer the question – “What is Marketing?” – Well to me it is seeing that there is a market or a way to set up a booth wherever individuals are or wherever I will come in contact with them – and at that point where I come across them – wherever that is – I introduce them to the products and services that I have to offer them – just like the staff of the different farmers at the different booths at the farmer’s market back in Lancaster, Pennsylvania – at with that introduction I provide them with the information and means to purchase the services and products that I have to offer as well -

My Marketing Program So Far

while the Facebook and other social media platforms are extremely helpful in getting the word out to many of the people who are on the Internet and who do use the tools there as well as twitter - there is one overall strategy that I started off line way back on 1976 and which became a full time focus for me with my marketing in 1992 and that is my "Doubling Project" which is basically giving out my business cards to many people throughout New York City or wherever in the world I happen to be - as people produced other products that people needed like soaps and pots and pans and candles and other goods - the markets expanded and well then you had the general stores to buy things in - now wherever I go and hand a person one of my business cards - I am creating a market in the sense that I am presenting the goods and services that I am offering to them which they can either access when they return to their homes and offices or even access and in today's world right their wherever I have met them on the smart phone - but I did have an address and phone number on the back of the business card - people called when they needed a photographer and since I gave out over 1.5 million of those cards there are still people calling from that card that many of them have kept and it reminds them that I am in business and how to reach me - At Any One Moment in Time

Directions

I often wonder from time to time if anyone else wonders - just how many different directions life on earth - life in our country and life for me might have take if any of the inventions that have been made were not made such as money - gasoline from oil that was used in lamps to light people's homes or the electric light bulb - roads - bridges - telephones - computers - internet - blogs - any or all of these things not being here would certainly be different yes - but on the flip side of the coin there are an infinite number of inventions that could and will still be made if the inventions that are not here at the present time do not distract our society our species and our individual minds from seeing these other possibilities that are there and someone somewhere or a group of someones somewhere or everybody for that matter latches onto these new ideas as soon as they arrive allow them to flourish and most definitely as well prevent them from being hindered by any monetary considerations that may or may not come along with their adoptions - this last point in the equation is the most important consideration because who in their right mind would like to see all of the wonderful things that we have today or those things that we might have go away if for some reason there is not enough money circulating amongst the people in our society to even consider making such a purchase - think long and hard on this and realize just how stifled we are as a human race - does a bird flying in the sky have to limit his or her possibilities because of the money or lack thereof which they have in their possession? Do we have the ability with our advanced minds to now go beyond the limitations that the current monetary systems have brought us to in each of the different countries throughout the world? Do think long and hard on this and I certainly hope that one of you out there reading this - and that includes myself - comes up with a better - more productive answer or solution that will bring our society - our world - our abilities - capabilities and our growth as a society way beyond where we could ever possibly get with the way things are!

THE FUTURE LANDSCAPE OF CAPITALISM

Everything - and I mean everything points towards many of the jobs that people have held for years being removed from the landscape of Capitalism and these jobs being replaced by mechanical or computerized means - and this is something that has been on the horizon for many years - but in what direction are those who have been removed from such jobs to go? It is a fact that the human being is being freed up from having to do such work in order for many of the services that our society needs to function to be taken off of these humans' backs in order for them utilize their lives in more productive as well as fulfilling lives - but can these humans realize that it is no longer the responsibility of anyone other than themselves to create exactly what they will be doing and in which direction they will be going from this point on? Can those who have been trained or shaped for so many years to function at such well machined and rote jobs pick themselves up and find meaning in their lives for themselves in what pursuits they choose for themselves in endeavors that suite their own hearts and minds as opposed to what they have been given to do by their bosses for so many years? This my friends may be the biggest challenges that such individuals may have to face ever and these challenges are just arriving - are well all ready for these challenges and opportunities that lie before us? First it is most important to see that this is what is happening and second - it is most important after seeing clearly in which direction any individual wishes to take themselves - for them to take action in such directions so that their self created dreams become realized - and not stifled by inaction and refusal to take the chances to make those dreams their realities -

THE MOST POWERFUL IDEA ON THE PLANET The greatest changes that you will most probably experience over your lifetime are changes within - in your thinking - in your perception and in your ideas as to what things are really worth and what is really worthwhile to work towards - Take for example many of the Titans of the Industrial Era - John D. Rockefeller, Andrew Carnegie, Cornelius Vanderbilt, John Jacob Astor and Henry Ford just to name the most well known - they spent most or all of their earlier years figuring out how to work their way up to earning a great deal of money utilizing the techniques and systems that put large numbers of men to work for them either refining and distributing oil, producing and selling steel, ship building and transportation by sea as well as by land (railroads), fur capturing and trading and later real estate ownership in Manhattan, and mass producing cars - and while they all filled some perceived need at the time that they were able to build up their wealth - each one of them - either during their lifetimes or afterwards were focused on distributing that very same wealth that they had spent all of this time and energy building and accumulating and growing throughout a large part of their lives, for some perceived good of mankind - I on the other hand find it might be a futile endeavor to attempt to try and build some type of fortune from what I have to offer and then later on go ahead and attempt to make some grand gesture of a philanthropic nature - but instead have and continue to look towards influencing people through my art all along - do you think that I will be struck with a philanthropic need near the end of my life because I have so much cash piled up and I think that there will be too much left to some relative somewhere like Andre Carnegie described in his essay WEALTH? instead of lecturing others on how or what to do with their wealth - how to build it up - how much to have and where and how to distribute it once it has piled up - I instead am sharing it with anyone and everyone who is interested in utilizing what it is I have to offer and that they can find a way to utilize during their lifetimes and without them having to go through a foundation or some other organization that might have to be set up to distribute this wealth - it is here for everyone to take for the viewing - in THE ULTIMATE SOURCE OF RENEWABLE ENERGY and while Bill Gates looks for energy without giving anything to people to work with BILL GATES ON ENERGY - INNOVATING TO ZERO - I give you everything and encourage you to do your best with it: The Ultimate Source of Renewable Energy

THE ART OF TIME AND MONEY

The Art of Time and Money Which although seems to allude all forms of inspection is really most probably the cause of any distress in the worlds of yesterday - today or tomorrow. First of all, let me thank you for spending your time to at least begin, if not continue reading this piece, since it is, whether you realize it or not, allowing me to convey to you an important part of my thinking. And besides the value of your time, which I acknowledge you are giving me at this very moment, I would also hope to acknowledge that this translates to money, whether in yesterday’s, today’s, or tomorrows, value of the idea referred to as money, and as such that your investment of your time in reading these words will bring you some profit, which for you specifically reading this will translate into a greater profit (idea or otherwise), and therefore make your investment a worthwhile one. Next, let me add an important concept into the arena of ideas, and say that the idea or ideas that one is working with (be it money or any other idea) change(s) constantly with thought - whether it is thought about the idea specifically, thought about the relationship of the idea to things, thought about the idea to other ideas or, just pure thought on any number of factors which make up the idea in it’s totality. This being the case, an infinite amount of thought (constantly changing and infinitely generated by ones mind) can be looked at in reference to any one of the above mentioned items without exhausting the ability for a single person, let alone a combination of two or more person’s working on the same subject together, to increase the thought on the subject infinitely. Why should we stop? Where should we stop? What should we stop for? What constitutes a need or reason to stop? And, in reality, when we appear to stop, do we in fact actually stop, or is there a continuation in the subconscious in the same direction with the thought, despite our conscious effort to chose a point where the thought direction and progress has stopped? When looked at from this perspective, thought on any subject, in any direcion does not have to nor does it likely ever stop in any one direction when we consciously think it does, and therefore the thought does not have to hinder or prevent or interfere with our productivity in the physical world (in the case of the Industrial World) or the knowledge based or idea world (in the Information World), but merely continues throughout as we develop more and more and evolve into our next World - the Thought World, where constant thought changes as well as physical changes are constantly noticed as part of the scenery in the everyday landscape, and lend themselves to a better undertanding as to what exactly is going on in our environments. How does this translate into an Art of Time and Money? Simply add a greater amount of thought to any Time and/or Money transactions and the infinite dimension of the thought direction is added to enhance and transform each one of these transaction into infinite understandings. Greater profit than this no man can ask for at the present moment!

WHAT IS THIS MONEY THING ANYWAY?

perhaps this whole money thing is simply who can control who in what way - listen - the government - whoever or whatever that is prints or created money and then we use it to buy this service or product or a company pays us to do this job or that job and the government always takes something along the way - so a dollar that the Uncle Sam created and put into this system that was somehow created becomes 66 or whatever cents when I earn it and then it becomes less when someone else earns it and there is never enough and there definitely has never been enough dollars ever printed to represent all of the wealth that exists in this country never mind the world and then everyone fights over this thing or that and well there simply are always more things and services than there are dollars in the world until imaginary dollars are created on Wall Street and then Uncle Sam gets nervous and wants to reign in some of that money so that Wall Street does not get out of control - or even the big companies don't get out of control - because how can we have a government when things get out of control - right? ------------------------and so when people - no matter whether they are rich - middle of the road or poor get scarred that things are in a crises mode - well then all things go crazy and people stop spending or they spend too much or maybe even they are not sure which way to go - and well the political class that wants to stay or get or whatever they want power for just mix up the whole thing even more to confuse and complicate matters even worse - In the loooooong run my friends - whether one side or the other or some man from outer space shows up - none of what is happening today will really ever matter - somehow - one way or the other eventually all of this will disappear and things will be extremely different than anything that we could possibly imagine today - and if you don't believe that - just stick around and watch ! :-) and just imagine - there was a point in the country and across continents in Europe where there were many different currencies that people dealt with - how were things managed back then?

THE CREATED ILLUSION OF A FINANCIAL CRISES

the only difficulty that has ever led to any financial crises in the minds of the people in this world is a inability to perceive a whole picture as to the value of all things that exist in the world today - I don't believe it matters what the spending of the government is - if for example - I have a house that was valued at $18,000. 50 years ago and has gone up in value to $700,000. today - and perhaps my deficit or what I owed against that house was $10.000 when I purchased it and I maintained a relatively tight budget over the years but due to my deficit spending I owe $50,000 today - well as a percentage of what the house is worth - what I owe is a much smaller percentage than what I owed 50 years ago - what is really something that needs to be evaluated and pointed out to every single citizen is what exactly are all of the assets of the entire United State worth - not only what the government is worth or the corporations or the individuals - but every single item - from antiques to agriculture to the intellectual capital of each and every human brain in this country so that deficits can be presented in comparison to the total worth of the country - in my example above - if the person who purchased the house 50 years ago did not know the current value of their home is $700,000 and that the antiques inside their home or the earning power of the individuals living in that home and so many other factors that go into calculating the true asset value of the owner of that house then there is certainly only misunderstanding about what their home is worth as compared to the debt that they have and the percentage of this debt compared to this value and the percentage of the debt that they had 50 years ago as compared the value of what they had back then -

THE GREATEST IDEA THE WORLD HAS EVER KNOWN All throughout the history of mankind - ideas have been entering the minds of men and women and they have, with the help of their subconscious minds, been directed, along every step of the way, and been given the information needed to know how to move towards and to know exactly how to achieve the materialization of these ideas, which are, in reality, given to him or her, through this subconscious mind as well. The Richest Man in The World Ever

The Richest Man in The World Ever For Years people have been striving to become and stay rich and perhaps become the richest as possible that they ever could and at the same time most of the rest of the world has been looking on with envy at those who have either achieved that role in society whether it was some person in the U.S. or in a country outside of the U.S. and what has never been accomplished was someone even coming close the the Oil Billionaire John D. Rockefeller and his vast empire of the Standard Oil Company which was broken up because it was declared a monopoly, and this breakup of his company actually made him even richer than he was before it was broken up - Rockefeller's riches depended on oil flowing out of the ground and then his company refining that oil into products that could be used by vast numbers of people throughout the world - but the supply of this oil needed to be replenished by continuous methods and by more and more ingenuity on the part of the oil drilling companies to keep up with the demand. for me there are great time difference between the time a person finds out about my art and the time that they will ever be ready - sometimes the time is very short - and sometimes perhaps it can be a very long time period till they are ready - this works the same with getting assignments in photography as well - there are many people who need something and get recommended - in a matter of minutes and the next thing they know they are in my studio getting what they want - but sometimes it may take a year - 3 years and sometimes it has been up to 12 years where a person has first found out to me and then finally needs what it is that they originally thought about when they first discovered my service existed and then they become a consistent repeat customer - so I think that people who are starting out in business would benefit greatly in realizing that these type of time differences or time lags from a person first finding out about your products and services and then when they are actually ready to call up and buy can vary greatly from person to person -

I have been thinking about what different people could want and then I decided to think about those things that I could possibly want - so far I have come up with the idea that what I would really like to have is at least most if not all of the knowledge and wisdom of the world or at least to know it - I say that because having it and knowing it might be two different things - what is perhaps is an astounding thing is that most if not all of the knowledge and wisdom of the world is here in some form or other on the Internet - whether written down on a web site or simply in the minds and thoughts and hearts of the friends that I have here or perhaps within their friends - but in some way most if not all of the knowledge and wisdom of the world is within reach of all of us - but the next question for me - is this knowledge and wisdom being utilized by us - to the extent that it is making a profound difference in our lives ?-

perhaps or perhaps not depending if and when we are actually searching for - making use of and even perhaps sharing this knowledge and wisdom and exchanging feedback as to how or when or why or any combination of these uses of such knowledge and wisdom to the best advantage -

I am wondering if there are many people who are viewing the whole picture as to how things are really changing in terms of what is accessible to us - and what it could mean even if it does not mean that yet -

are we as humans - ready for such grand increases in improvements in our lives and are we prepared ourselves with what we are to do with ourselves once we have made such improvements -

do we understand how to live at such elevated levels as well as how to enjoy ourselves - make good use of our time as well as perhaps earning money at these elevated states of being -

it is - I believe - one of the abilities of the age we are in - to have many of the wrote tasks that men have performed in the past - be done my machines and computers - therefore placing a new type of burden upon us to do something other than these types of work tasks that so many people were challenged with in the past - something more in the line of THINKING - are we ready to start up our brains - power them up and begin working in these directions on new and totally different types of tasks - the thinking kind?

I think that not only is the removal of distractions important but there is also the question of in what direction or let's just say the objective of the direction that a person will be heading in when the distractions are removed is of great importance as well - It might just be that many - most or even perhaps all people allow themselves to be distracted simply because they feel the need to "socialize" and so there is this tendency to listen to - look for and to get involved with what it is that other people - one - a few - a larger group - any one and every one is doing.

The freedom not to have to work in any particular "job" as has been the fate of so many people for so many generations of human kind is actually a most fantastic opportunity - but this opportunity is different than the "opportunity" to have a job and work with others on any particular task such as one would find they had on a job assignment -

Instead the human being is now free in many cases to be removed from the need to have to be distracted by any or all other humans and to instead pursue a line of pure thought in just about any direction or line of thinking that is chosen and by doing this a greater distance or amount of thought can be levied in the one direction that is chosen - apart from a few meditative Gurus - this type of opportunity has not been afforded many people on this planet in a long time - and it will be interesting to see the ideas - thoughts and products that will arise if and when such thinking does occur -

The Art of Time and Money
Which although seems to allude all forms of inspection is really most probably the cause of any distress in the worlds of yesterday - today or tomorrow.
First of all, let me thank you for spending your time to at least begin, if not continue reading this piece, since it is, whether you realize it or not, allowing me to convey to you an important part of my thinking. And besides the value of your time, which I acknowledge you are giving me at this very moment, I would also hope to acknowledge that this translates to money, whether in yesterday’s, today’s, or tomorrows, value of the idea referred to as money, and as such that your investment of your time in reading these words will bring you some profit, which for you specifically reading this will translate into a greater profit (idea or otherwise), and therefore make your investment a worthwhile one.
Next, let me add an important concept into the arena of ideas, and say that the idea or ideas that one is working with (be it money or any other idea) change(s) constantly with thought - whether it is thought about the idea specifically, thought about the relationship of the idea to things, thought about the idea to other ideas or, just pure thought on any number of factors which make up the idea in it’s totality. This being the case, an infinite amount of thought (constantly changing and infinitely generated by ones mind) can be looked at in reference to any one of the above mentioned items without exhausting the ability for a single person, let alone a combination of two or more person’s working on the same subject together, to increase the thought on the subject infinitely.
Why should we stop? Where should we stop? What should we stop for? What constitutes a need or reason to stop? And, in
reality, when we appear to stop, do we in fact actually stop, or is there a continuation in the subconscious in the same direction with the thought, despite our conscious effort to chose a point where the thought direction and progress has stopped?
When looked at from this perspective, thought on any subject, in any direcion does not have to nor does it likely ever stop in any one direction when we consciously think it does, and therefore the thought does not have to hinder or prevent or interfere with our productivity in the physical world (in the case of the Industrial World) or the knowledge based or idea world (in the Information World), but merely continues throughout as we develop more and more and evolve into our next World - the Thought World, where constant thought changes as well as physical changes are constantly noticed as part of the scenery in the everyday landscape, and lend themselves to a better undertanding as to what exactly is going on in our environments.
How does this translate into an Art of Time and Money? Simply add a greater amount of thought to any Time and/or Money transactions and the infinite dimension of the thought direction is added to enhance and transform each one of these transaction into infinite understandings.
Greater profit than this no man can ask for at the present moment!
